Staying at the gite/bed and breakfast La Clef des Vignes was a complete delight in every way possible. My husband and I discovered it while lost, driving in the countryside at night. The owners (who speak English as well as French, and maybe other languages) are two of the kindest, most welcoming, and interesting people we met during our three-month stay in Europe. They took wonderful care of us, bringing coffee and milk and a bottle of local (and delicious) wine to the wonderful guesthouse (large with full kitchen, wifi, TV, comfortable bed and furniture), which is completely private, as it is set apart from the main house (traditional stone French country house). La Clef des Vignes has a remarkable view of acres of vineyards, which we walked (and ran) through for hours. Not only that, but we borrowed bicycles, which was a treat considering that the area is perfect for biking. There is a pool available to guests. Breakfast was homemade and absolutely delicious: a full breakfast, much more than juice/coffee/croissant, and more than we could eat. There are a number of buildings on the property, every one impressive for its unique character and vineyard views and privacy. I could have happily stayed there for several months. The location is exceptional: in the country, and yet small towns and very good restaurants and stores, as well as the city of Cahors, are close-by. La Clef des Vignes is superior for its ambiance, facilities, genuine hospitality and friendliness of the owners, peace and quiet, location, bikes and wine and pool and food, and more. Staying there was one of our most memorable experiences in France. I can't recommend it more highly, and will definitely return. Brucie Jacobs
