A walk full of surprises through the wild and enigmatic valley of La Sagne. Peace reigns supreme over all this itinerary which is full of unexpected elements from the Pech de La Poule to the "Ecoute s'il pleut" coomb. About 3000 B.C., the peoples living in Quercy used to bury their dead in collective stone tombs. This tradition lasted for about 1500 years. With more than 600 dolmens recorded, Quercy is one of the regions in France with the highest density of this type of megalithic construction ; it is even higher here than in Brittany. Made of huge slabs of limestone, the dolmen is a burial chamber, which would originally have been covered with a mound of earth known as a tumulus.
