  • Puy-l’Evêque is built on one of the narrowest peninsulas carved into the Causse by the Lot, in an area where the relief becomes less marked, leading down to the Agenais. A listed site, Puy-l’Evêque lies on the edge of Quercy and Perigord, not far from Gascony. Puy-l’Evêque is an open invitation to explore the many vestiges of its rich, distant past. Behind the 13th C. keep, the last trace of the the Bishop's Palace, the town's superb ochre-coloured mediaeval houses are laid out in steps down to the quayside (signposted trail and guided tours.) Excursions can easily be made to Cahors, Rocamadour, Padirac, the Lot and Célé valleys, Bonaguil, the Dordogne and the Bastides of the Lot et Garonne.
