Moulin à Huile de Noix

Historic site and monument ,  Mill at Saint-Céré

Moulin-Saint-Céré-01
  • The walnut-oil mill was marked on the first "cadastre" (showing boundaries, buildings, etc.) in 1830 as a "presser of oil". The mill has two grindstones, one of which is still working. The stone mill crushes the kernels, which are then heated gently, and returned to the press where the oil is extracted. The mill works as and when walnuts are brought to it by clients. Visits are free, and walnut oil is sold here. The mill is open all year round, and the annual closing is in October. It is recommended to reserve for visits other than in July-August.
