- The unspoiled beauty of the landscape in and around the lovely, verdant Bave Valley is there for you to enjoy. With its fast-flowing, cool, oxygen-rich waters, the Bave, one of the Dordogne's tributaries, provides a high-quality habitat for the fario trout which can live out its full life cycle here: spawning, growth and reproduction. On the Dordogne, electricity-generating installations have slowed the flow of water and caused warming incompatible with the trout's survival. The Departemental Federation for Fishing and Aquatic Habitat Protection is doing its best to preserve and restore river quality : perhaps there will soon be salmon in the Bave ?
