- Round walk taking you from the fortified village of Flaugnac to the slopes opposite, giving you views over two valleys, with interesting and varied elements of local heritage to see along the way. Flaugnac, set on a promontory providing a natural defence in itself, is one of the 13th C. settlements built around castles. At that time, this was like a fort, or "castrum", surrounded by walls and separated from the rest of the village by a drawbridge. Within the castrum itself were the lord's apartments and the houses of noble knights who provided protection for the village. However, the Hundred Years' War and the Wars of Religion caused the destruction of this well-organised system.
