Former staging post on the Roman road linking Gergovie to Cahors, Latronquière was also a domain of the Knights of the Order of Malta. The Way of the Cross of Latronquière church is a truly original work by M. Delclaux. He projected, in the form of silhouettes, the traditional images of the stations of the Way of the Cross on to familiar images of the village of Latronquière. This grew out of a painful memory. On the 11th May 1944, a German division entered the village, assembled the inhabitants on the church square, then made them walk through the village. Several of them were deported : 15 died in concentration camps. He painted the streets they walked through as a Way of the Cross.
