Club d'Astronomie de Gigouzac

Astronomy at Cahors
  • The Gigouzac Club celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2006. At present, there are about thirty members, aged between 8 and 62. Our association is open to anyone who is curious or passionate about observing the heavens, without any age limit or knowledge requirement. The Gigouzac observatory, named for the founder, Daniel CHOTTIN, is 20 km north of Cahors. In this part of Quercy, we are lucky enough to have a night sky relatively free from light pollution. Every year the club takes part in various events and organises observation for the public where there is a special astronomical event.
