in Le Vigan
-
It is the only remaining evidence of the monastic enclosure. Converted into a parochial church after the French Revolution.
It symbolizes the spread of Gothic art in the area of the late 13th C. In the 14th C, it was one of the richest churches of the diocese of Cahors, but the One hundred Year war & the wars of religion quickened its decline. It has a daring architecture with its choir and triple apses. The large single nave is typical of the gothic style in Southern France
