Allons Voir si la Rauze

A pleasant round walk which takes you along the Rauze valley, included in the European Natura 2000 grouping, which seeks to conserve and protect threatened species and natural habitats. A dozen protected species including bats, crayfish, dragonflies, butterflies and rare orchids are to be found here.

The commune of Francoulès is at present working to restore a natural hay meadow and a pond. This should encourage the presence of dragonflies and amphibians; and if the pond holds water for long enough, the common salamander may also decide to move in.
