A walk around a little town in the country, from the banks of the Lot to the heights of the Causse Blanc. The site of Capdenac, with its station, bridge constructed on a design by Eiffel, port, river, road and railway tunnels, provides an exceptional synthesis of the 19th C. revolution in means of transport. Before 1858, the Lot with its weirs and locks was the main commercial route enabling goods to be carried down to the Garonne and Bordeaux. At that time, more than 50000 tons of coal mined in the Aubin-Decazeville basin were transported on it. In 1857, the Grand-Central company decided to complete the Tinsou - Montauban railway line, which subsequently supplanted the boat traffic.
