Starting in Cardaillac, the cradle of one of the oldest feudal families in France, this walk will take you through conifer woods and to the Sagnes artificial lake. A few kilometres from Figeac, the village of Cardaillac is set on a rocky spur at an altitude of 300 m on the edge of the Ségala. This village, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France" owes its name to a powerful family which governed the Ségala and gave rise to several branches in Quercy (Lacapelle-Marival, Thémines, Saint Cirq…). The houses were grouped around the fort with its two 12th C. towers and its ramparts. Many interesting architectural elements are still to be seen as you wander through the old lanes.
