This round walk provides some excellent views : over the mountains of the Auvergne, the Lot Valley, the village of Faycelles... Astride the limestone plateau separating the Lot and Célé rivers, Faycelles owes its smart bourgeois houses to a period during which the wine trade fuelled an economic boom. In the 8th C., the village had a priory where Charlemagne's two court jesters are supposed to have been born. Faycelles owes its name to the "Fiscella", a tax paid by the fiscal serfs (les Fiscalini) to the abbot in the 11th C. Later, the villagers abandoned the foot of the cliff, where afterwards a leper hospital was built, and settled around the château, where the present-day village stands.
